Back to Basics: The importance of playing an accessory part

The role of accessories is quite important in a outfitt creation.
They play both parts of functional and of decoration standing out sometimes as a main character.
If we innumerate all the possible accessories used in the fashion head to toe it leaves with: Hats, Sunglasses, Hair accessories,Scarves, Belts, Watches, Pins and broches, Footware, Bags, Jewlery.
So how do you play the part? How do you go out with an outfit that is consistent and with coherent support of the right accessories? The trick is to tell a story. In an interview some years ago Isabella Rosselini disclosed how she composes a daily outfit. She was wearing some navy trousers, a french fisherman st-michelle striped navy and white top and a closed tied scarf to her neck. She was playing a character that day. She was a sea side fisherman. The trick is you don’t have to go overboard and buy a greased raincoat, rubber boats and a fishing net. You take some influences and you make the items by its colours textures and shapes to tell the story for you. That’s how you get into a consistent look.
